Spandex is a kind of elastofiber, which belongs to the polyurethane elastomeric fiber, it has the excellent elastic recovery, the range of its extensibility is up to 400%800%, it has good elastic resilience, which made its products have the soft handle and comfort ability, therefore it has a wide use in the textile products. It has varieties of way used in the textile; the two main methods are bare silk and processing elastic yarn. The covered-spun yarn is one of the most extensive kinds.In this article, the covered-spun yarn which makes up of polyester and spandex is processed by the principle of parallel spinning, its another name is hollow spindle spinning, which is one of the new type spinning, the main use of parallel spinning is on the procession of fancy yarn. The polyester and spandex covered-spun yarn is made by the method of hollow spindle spinning, the polyester filament coveres on the outside of spandex as the form of spiral. Because spandex has the property of low tensile and high elasticity, which made the yarn have the elasticity of spandex and the properties of polyester fiber, at the same time the polyester fiber offers the appearance and handle feature.In this paper, the basic properties of Spandex, Polyester and the principle how to produce composed yarn, were introduced. The yarn properties and the process of technology were analyzed. In the light of the properties of the fiber and the relative document, the test method of each index was defined. The method in theory how to calculate the covered-spun yarn's content of spandex, which made by polyester and spandex, was deduced, two different methods were obtained and analyzed by contrast. The covered-spun yarn that made up of spandex and polyester was one kind of composed yarn, which produced under the principle of hollow spindle spun yarn. In order to investigate the influence of its technology parameter, an experiment was made, which adopted the L9(34) orthogonal design, in the light of the national standard of similar yarn and took the character of experiment material into consideration. Lots of indexes such as tensile, stretch, twist, shrink of boiling water, blending ratio, extension under given load and resilient-elasticity recovery at constant load were tested and analyzed. On the base of these data, the method of orthogonal design and tests of Between-Subjects Effects were adopted, the result that which was the important factor of each indexes, were got. In other fact, in order to get the quality of the covered-spun yarn, I adopted the method of Principal Component Analysis, which is a kind of poly-component analyze method. Four main components was got, which could be used to evaluate the comprehensive quality of covered-spun yarn, the best sample and the optimum technology parameter could be obtained by calculating the score of each sample, a new method to evaluate the quality of the covered-spun yarn was developed.
