| Nowadays, with the population explosion and economic development, worldwide natural forest resources are being seriously short of Simultaneously, however, wood and wood-based products are being increasingly required in China. To balance above contradiction, deep-procession of plantation forests through scientific revolution is creating increasing concerns. Sliced veneers from recomposed lumbers not only inherit all the advantages but overcome the instinct defects of natural wood and break through some limitations such as color, grain, size, etc. This newly developed product satisfied consumers with personality and hence widened its application in man's living. In this master dissertation, pliable decorative sliced veneer (PDSV), a new type of sliced veneer, is experimentally fabricated combing sliced veneers and soft reinforced materials. Representative reinforcing materials were paper, nonwoven and woven fabrics, and paper-plastic films. Different processing parameters to manufacture PDSV were tried. To decide, physic-mechanical properties of fabricated products were tested. It was shown that:1. PDSV combination of sliced veneer with 40g/m~2 non-woven cloth, woven cloth, or paper by soaking with thermally-melt glue had physical pliability and processing convenience. It's recommended to further widen the application of above PDSV products.2. PDSV showed evidently strengthened mechanical performances especially in transverse direction. This will facilitate the transportation and storage of PDSV products where mechanical properties are in severe requirements.3. Paper-based PDSV showed best quality with gluing regulation as: PVAc: UF=8:2.4. Hot-pressing regulations for paper-based PDSV: unit pressure: 0.7Mpa; pressing temperature: 110℃; pressing time: 2min; Glue content: 60g/m~2.5. Hot-pressing regulations for PDSVs with cloths: unit pressure: 0.9Mpa; pressing temperature: 160℃; pressing time: 3min.6. Hot-pressing regulations for PDSV with paper-plastic: unit pressure: 0.9Mpa; pressing temperature: 150℃; pressing time: 3min. |
