Acetate anion has been selected as bridging ligand and three novel complexes have been designed and synthesized, namely, the binuclear complexes [Gd2 (pydno)2(CH3COO)2(SCN)4(H2O)6] (1),[Sm2(pydno)2(CH3COO)2(SCN)4(H2O)6] (2) and [Eu2(pydno)2(CH3COO)2(SCN)4(H2O)6] (3); A one-dimensional chain complex {[Cd(ADM)2(H2O)2]ยท2H2O}n (4) with 1-amino-2,2-dicyanoethene-1-mercapto anion (ADM) as bridging ligand has been designed and synthesized; With pyrazine-2-carboxylate-4-N-oxide as bridging ligand, a one-dimensional chain complex [Cd(pyzno)2]n (5) and a three-dimensional polymer [Cd(pyzno)(SCN)]n have been designed and synthesized. The six novel complexes were characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectra, and their crystal structures determined by X-ray crystallography. The variable-temperature magnetic susceptibilities of complexes (1) were measured and the magnetic data were analyzed. The main creativities of this study are as follows: 1. The more magnetic coupling information dealing with Gd(III) ions and acetate anion as bridging ligand has been obtained. 2. The first complex with 1-amino-1-mercapto-2,2-dicyanoethene anion as ligand has been designed and synthesized, and the structure of the one-dimensional complex {[Cd(ADM)2(H2O)2]?2H2O}n has been studied, in which 1-amino-1-mercapto-2,2-dicyanoethene anion was used as bridging ligand. 3. The complexes with 2-carboxylate-4-N-oxide-pyrezine as ligand have first been synthesized, and the structure of one-dimensional complex [Cd(pyzno)2]n using pyzno as bridging ligand and the structure of three-dimensional complex [Cd (pyzno)(SCN)]n with pyzno and SCN? as bridging ligand have been studies.
