Because of light weight, high strength, high stiffness, good stability, heat insulation and sound insulation, the glued aluminum honeycomb panel(GAHP) has huge prospective of wide use in aircraft, train, shipping, construction etc. However, its strength, life and allowable operating condition were restricted by the properties of adhesives. So a new manufacture technique is needed to develop to change the disadvantage of GAHP drastically, brazing is the optical technique, because the brazing junction is metallurgical combination, and its mechanical properties are better than adhesives.Based on the metallized aluminum alloy rolling technique, this paper studies on the manufacturing techniques and mechanical properties of brazed aluminum honeycomb panel(BAHP).(1) Study on the forming techniques of aluminum honeycomb and brazing techniques of BAHP. Results find that rolling + impact extrusion is successful, and the brazing temperature should be in the range of 605℃ and 621℃.(2)Applying thin-plate theory, considering the original defect and large deflection property of cell walls, set up the theoretical model of flatwise compressive strength of BAHP, analyze the effect of the mechanical properties of the raw aluminum alloy honeycomb after brazing on the flatwise compressive strength and the deformation process. Results find that BAHPs begin to destroy when the compressive stress values of cell walls exceed 63% of yield stress of the raw aluminum alloy.(3)Analyze the effect of the longitudinal and transverse structure difference of honeycomb on the longitudinal and transverse deformation process and destroy type of BAHP. Results find that the longitudinal ultimate strength of faceplate is basically equal of the tensile strength of original aluminum alloy, and the transverse ultimate strength of faceplate is lower 12% than the longitudinal ultimate strength of faceplate. At last, face wrinkling destruction occurs as longitudinal edgewise compression and shear crimping destruction occurs as transverse edgewise compression.(4)Test the shear strength of BAHPs by using the shear test setup designed by author, analyze the effect of shear yield stress of raw aluminum alloy on the shear strength and deformation process of BAHPs. Results find that the longitudinal shear strength is 1MPa and the transverse shear strength is 0.66MPa.This paper also primarily discuss the farther development and applied prospectives of BAHP.
