The aim of the paper is to establish a set of simple and feasible lab methodology of estimating the capability of antifouling paints as well as its main ingredients by biologic methods.Cylinder-plate method and Test-tube dilution method were used to examine the antibacterial activities of the derivatives of four kinds of isothiazolones and functional derivatives of acrylamide. The results show that the derivatives of isothiazolones selected all have nice performance of restraining Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Saccharomyces cerevisiae and there are only slight difference in the performance of antibacterial. Functional derivatives of acrylamide have good performance in restraining Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.LC50 were used estimate guideline to discussing the influence of the derivatives of isothiazolones to the growth of nauplius. The results shows the isothiazolones selected all have excellent toxicity to larvae of Chthamalus challengeri Hoek and there are only slightly difference in therir toxicity because of their difference in structure.Using film applicator coating, we examine the antibacterial activities of functional resin. The results show functional resins all can restrain bacteria well, and their anti-bacteriaratios are different because of the difference in fuctional monomer.Plate Assay in house were used to studied the antifouling performance of functional resins selected. The results show that this method can appraise the antifouling performance of functional resins in a short term.Using the inhibiting rate to the growth of alga as guideline, we studied the influences of seven kinds of antifouling paints to the growth of alga. The results show that there are many relativities compared with the results of Plate Assay in site.A simple and feasible lab methodology of estimating antifouling paints , antifoulants and resin are established elementarily.
