Synthesises of urushiol-based antifoulants and their properties were researched in this study. The main works of this thesis are as follows:Firstly, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) was prepared in the ethanol by using urushiol as reductant. The influences of protective agents, concentration and temperature on dispersion and particle sizes of AgNPs were investigated. Meanwhile, AgNPs were characterized and confirmed by methods including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Secondly, AgNPs/polymer composed coatings were prepared by in situ reduction approach and their antibacterial properties and marine antifouling performance were determined by antibacterial test and testing antifouling panels in shallow submergence. The results showed the coatings containing with above 0.1% AgNPs had good antibacterial effect. Notably, the antifouling panel casted by the coatings with 0.3% AgNPs showed good marine antifouling effect after submerging in seawater after half a year.Urushiol containing capsaicin moieties(UL) were prepared by reaction of Friedel-Crafts between N-methylol acrylamide and urushiol. The capsaicin active group was introduced in urushiol structure, which was characterized and validated by infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and ultraviolet spectrum (UV) methods. UL's antibacterial properties and marine antifouling performance were determined by antibacterial test and antifouling panels in shallow submergence. The results showed that the coatings containing 10% UL had good antibacterial properties; After 180 days, the antifouling panel containing 6% and 10% UL without biofouling exhibited good antifouling performance.N-[(2-hydroxyl-3-trimethylammonium)propyl] urushiol chloride (HTUC) was prepared by reaction between the 2,3-epoxy propyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (EPTAC) and urushiol, and it was characterized by infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), proton NMR spectra (1H-NMR). HTUC's antibacterial properties and marine antifouling performance were determined by antibacterial test and antifouling panels in shallow submergence. The results showed minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of HTUC against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were 0.2 g/mL and 0.1 g/mL. What's more, the antifouling panel containing 1% HTUC hadn't been fouled by any marine organism after 180 days, which embodied the HTUC's robust antifouling activity.
