The gravity of the global eco-crisis makes it necessary for us to reconsider human relationship with the Nature and forces js to develop a new conception of developmental mode-a conception of sustainable social development under the framework of ecological ethics of environmental protection. According to this brand-new conception, the Chinese traditional conception of social developmental mode should be abandoned and be replaced by a new conception of sustainable one in order to protect the environment and keep the social development in harmony with the Nature. Under this situation, we are inevitably obliged to probe into all kinds of possible solutions towards social developments. Since the end of the Second World War, people's conceptions towards social development have been greatly modified and radically transformed for several times, from the theory of economic increase to the theory of harmonious socioeconomic development and then to the newly-developed theory of sustainable development. During this course, people's understanding of this problem has been greatly deepened. As a developing country, China, in its course of modernization, is in great need of a peaceful and favorable international environment. But different countries hold different views towards the understanding of the conception of sustainable development. The concurrence of contradiction and conflict is by no means rare and is sometimes accompanied by force. Despite of all the difficulties, such as the austere situation of its enormous population, limited natural resources, insufficient energy and degraded environment, China, as one of the most powerful and influential countries, holds a responsible attitude towards sustainable development and insists on its rise in peace to establish a harmonious socialist society. This strategic decision proposed by the Chinese government as one of its national policies in its implementation will certainly produce a positive domestic and international effect on the solving of the global eco-crisis. It will not only enhance China's own sustainable development, but also will improve the global sustainable development as a whole. In this dissertation, I will first devote myself to the analysis of international conflicts on this global eco-crisis and their effects on China's sustainable development with the emphasis on China's countermeasures against the unfavorable international environment while the rest of my dissertation, with the conception of sustainable development as its basis, will be committed to the analysis of the strategy adopted by the Chinese government- the strategy of Rise in Peace, in an attempt to have a discussion on how to solve such problems as population, energy, resources and environment by transforming the traditional mode of economic increase into a new one so as to establish a harmonious socialist society.
