The number of splitting C9 cut fraction will be increased considerably as a side-product of the ethylene industry with its quick development. How to use splitting C9 cut fraction effectively is attracting more and more concern from the relevant companies. So far, only small number of splitting C9 cut fraction is being used in patrol resin. However, the produced patrol resin is low in quality and deep in colour. Adding hydrogen to it or making copolymer with it is quite difficult in technique. Now it is only in experimental stage. The splitting C9 cut fraction is used in other ways , such as made as flux oil or splitting equal trimethyl benzene from it for experiment. But limited by either technique or economic reason, it is difficult for them to be mass produced as industrial products.With the high development of communication and transportation, the poisonous materials produced by tail gas of the cars has already become a public harm. Based on the requirements of environmental protection, more and more restricted patrol usage standard is being set up by some countries in the world. Thus, the clear patrol with low sulphur, low alkene and high octane rating is in great need. 75%80% patrol gas used in China comes from FCC patrol gas, it contains high sulphur and alkene. The addition of hydrogen to it can extract sulphur and alkene, but octane rating will be diminished simultaneously. If hydrogen is added to splitting C9 cut fraction, the product will be low in sulphur and alkene and high in octane rating. It will supplement the disadvantage of FCC patrol gas. Accordingly, how to make use of splitting C9 cuts and process clear patrol gas with low sulphur, low alkene and high octane rating by adding hydrogen to it attracting more and more focus.Entrusted by M company, the program did research on the feasible condition of splitting C9 cuts with hydrogen, tested the entrance temperature of the reaction instrument, liquid phase airspeed, processing pressure, the effect on the addition of hydrogen to the volume ratio of oil and hydrogen. The conclusion is that with the addition of hydrogen, the splitting C9 cuts can be used as an element of clear patrolgas with low sulphur, low alkene and high octane rating.According to the demand of M company, the result of the experiment is pre-designed and evaluated in terms of technology. With the current quantity of C9, the apparatus with 1.8kt/a can be built. The key equipments is finalized on the basis of technological process imitation calculation. The condition of the technological implementation is planned, material balance and consumption limitation is analyzed. As a result, we expect that it is a good program.
