Organobentonite is a kind of hydrophobic bentonite which were prepared by exchanging inorganic cations in the bentonite with organic cations or compounds .It combines inorganic bentonite's excellent dilatability, adsorption and dispersion with huge hydrophobic area, so it has very good affinity for organic substance and has been widely used to treat wastewater.In this paper. PDMDAAC-bentonite, as a new type of sorbent, was synthesized by using poly dimethyldiallylammonium chloride (PDMDAAC) and bentonite. The technics of preparing the PDMDAAC-bentonite were studied .The PDMDAAC-bentonite is used to treat Reactive Turquoise Blue KN-G dye wastewater and Reactive Flavine K-4G wastewater respectively. The results show that the sorption behavior of KN-G and K-4G on the PDMDAAC-bentonite are in accord with Freundlich equation. The PDMDAAC-bentonite's adsorption ability is best by contrasting with other modified bentonite.The mechanism and the thermodynamics adsorption of p—nitrophenol to the PDMDAAC-bentonite from water were investigated in this paper and the thermodynamics model of the treating of waste water containing p—nitrophenol using the PDMDAAC-bentonite were also explored at different temperatures; the functions of thermodynamics (the standard sorption enthalpy △H? and entropy △S?) were calculated.The experiment results of the structure of the PDMDAAC-bentonite and the mechanism for its modification showed that the granularity and specific surface area of PDMDAAC-bentonite increased. With the increase of adsorption quantity of PDMDAAC on bentonite, the Zeta potential of PDMDAAC-bentonite changed from negative to positive which indicate modification with PDMDAAC can change the electronic properties of the surface of bentonite. It was observed from XRD spectrum that the interlayer distance of bentonite was widened.The efficiencies of PDMDAAC-bentonite for color and COD removal of actual wastewater were greater than bentonite. In this experiment we can draw the conclusion that the adsorption ability of organobentonite is as well as that of actived carbon and the superiority of this new adsorbent PDMDAAC-bentonite is also confirmed.
