The development history, actuality, tendency and the preparation techniques of ferrite were summarized in the paper. As an important sort of soft magnetic, MnZn-ferrite must have a better prospect.A new way to analyze average manganese valence of MnZn-ferrite, using the potassium permanganate spectrophotometer method combine with XPS, was studied in this paper. The main factors that affect the analyse results, such as the acidity, the amount of sodium acetate anhydrous and ammonium persulfate etc. were investigated in detail. The effect of preparation way of precursor on average manganese valence of MnZn-ferrite was investigated. The results showed that with the same coprecipitation mixing time the average manganese valence of MnZn-ferrite samples were increasing as the pH value increasing. And with the same coprecipitation pH value the average manganese valence of MnZn-ferrite samples were increasing as the mixing time prolonged. It was the first time that the effect of magnetic field was studied as a synthesizing condition duing the hydrothermal crystallization process. The XRD results showed that no new structure phase was gained under such intensity of magnetic field. The XPS results showed that in one special sample a small portion of Zn~2+ may occupied the spinel crystal of B sublattice. A cursory conclusion of the effect of magnetic field would be made that the average manganese valence of MnZn-ferrite increase when adding nanoscal particles of MnZn-ferrite, versus the average manganese valence of MnZn-ferrite decrease when adding a magnetic field. With the discussing of cationic ion distribution of MnZn-ferrite in theory, a new way to survey MnZn-ferrite structure completely was sprouted.
