Through adjusting the ratio of raw materials and fuel, materials with three ratios were ground with an OK12-2 raw mill (Φ1.2m). After being roasted in a shaft kiln (Φ2.8×10m), clinkers have been obtained. On the base of chemical analysis and physical strength test of clinkers, this article tries to discuss in detail the effect of the content of tricalcium silicate (C3S), tricalcium aluminate(C3A) and silicate mineral on ISO strength of clinkers, find all of the factors which affect ISO strength of clinkers. Finally, appropriate mineral components and three ratios are found out which fit for shaft kiln roasting and guarantee a higher ISO strength. It is shown as follow, KH0.93±0.02, SM2.1 ± 0.1, IM 1.3 ± 0.1. Under above conditions, the content C3S is high, the roasting range is large and the operation is easy to control. Finally a feasible way to improve ISO strength of clinker for shaft kiln has been put forward.
