Nickel Boron / Micro / Nano Composite Plating Process And Its Coating Performance

In this paper, the principles , technology and performance of composite electroless plating ( Ni — B ) — SiC, ( Ni — B ) — SiC /Al2O3(nm) on the aluminum-silicon alloy and A3 steel substrate were studied. The principle , structure, content and performances of (Ni — B) — SiC, (Ni — B) — SiC /Al2O3(nm) composite electroless coatings were analyzed by means of SEM, XRD, DTA, MPX-2000 friction and wear machine etc.. The deposition mechanism of composite electroless plating was discussed tentatively and argued on addition dispersion nano-particles Al2O3 by the action and influence of the coating performance. The main content of the experiments and the results included:1) Two different pretreatment on the aluminum-silicon alloy and Q235 steel substrate were explored. A compact and evengranular (Ni — B) —SiC, (Ni — B)— SiC /Al2O3(nm) composite electroless coatings were deposited by the pretreatment..2) The technology and composition of electroless composite plating (Ni — B )— SiC, (Ni —B) —SiC /Al2O3(nm) were studied. The optimal electroless composite plating conditions and the influence of technology parameters were acquired.3) The surface shape, structure, contents of the (Ni —B) —SiC, (Ni —B)— SiC /Al2O3(nm) composite electroless coatings were analyzed by means of SEM, XRD, DTA.4) By the MVK-H3 hardness instrument, the hardness of the two composite electroless coatings increased, and then decreased with the heat treatment temperatures. And the hardness of(Ni —B) — SiC /Al2O3(nm) composite coating was higher than the (Ni — B) — SiC composite coating's.5) The wear experiment was carried out on MPX-2000 friction and wear machine. The friction couples are consisted of composite electroless coating and 45# steel. The test was carried out under oil friction condition. The result of the wear test shown that the (Ni — B) — SiC /Al2O3(nm) composite coating had high wear resistance.6) The high temperature oxidation resistance of the two composite electroless coatings were studied by weigh-increase means. The result indicated that the (Ni — B) — SiC /Al2O3(nm) composite plating was superior to the (Ni — B) — SiC composite coating.7) Attachment between composite electroless coating and substrate was studied by hot expand and cold contact means and nick means. The result indicated that attachment between coating and substrate was excellent.
