With the extensive use of computer, CAD technology has been widely used and inverted into productive forces in all industries. Its application in enterprises shortens the design cycle of products and improves ente80rprises' competitive power in market. However the secondary development of CAD lagged severely its extensive use. Against those abnormal phenomena, based on rapid molding, a CAD system on work piece with shell configuration sand casting mould was exploited.According to the characteristics of further developing, the theory method of parameterization design and application of knowledge during CAD design were intensively studied, also the selection of exploitation tools and integrated exploitation platforms was discussed and researched. On these bases, using the technology of design parameterization , functional modularization, a secondary integrated developing platform which was developed by UG Open , VC++, Microsoft Access2000 Server was put forward.By the study and analysis on sand casting mould design characteristic of work piece with shell configuration, the main treatment process and overall structure of CAD system about work piece with shell sand casting mould design were set. Combining practical requirements, the thesis introduces the functions of all branch systems and the relations between them, which has guiding significance to accomplish the CAD system.On the base of analyzing sand casting mould design characteristics of work piece with shell configuration, with the development method of software modularization and parameterization, the thesis finished the exploitations on casting technique CAD system menu, database about gray iron and work piece with shell configuration casting technique CAD system.Using the combination of UG/Open API and UG/Open-H- as development tools with the interactive interface of UG/Open UIStyler, the application program is closely integrated with UG system by UG/Open MenuScript.The system consists of all aspects of work piece with shell sand casting moulddesign. The application of exploitation thought to casting engineers and the use of cast knowledge not only is convenient for the operation and utilization of cast workers, but also make the system have the characteristics of profession % practicality and customization which were approved in the practices.
