This paper focuses on a new type of organoclay made by ourselves. Using the organoclay without any compatibility intercalated the polyolefin (PP,PE and EPDM) , several kind nanocomposites with different substructure were prepared.Organoclay was characterized by IR, XRD and pregel method testing, to confirm the compatibility between the organoclay and the polyolefin matrix.By controlling different process and condition, the intercalation, partial-exfoliation and partial intercalation polypropylene/organoclay were prepared with three different substructure. The substructure was investigated by Transmission Electron microscopy (TEM) observation. And the melt index (MI), mechanical properties, thermostability were tested ,discussed and compared. Testing result indicated, the dispersed state of the organoclay in PP matrix would effect the properties of the nanocomposites. The partial-exfoliation nanocomposites decreased the MI most, and with the best dispersion state;the intercalation nanocomposites had the optimal allover properties;the partial intercalation nanocomposites decreased the MI little, but the process of preparation is simple and the allover properties were good. So according to different need different nanocomposites to be prepared.Exfoliation HDPE/Orgnoclay nanocomposites, intercalation LDPE/Organo clay and LLDPE/Organoclay nanocomposites were prepared by melt extrusion. By analysis three kind polyethylene nanocomposites found that, the polyethylene with different branch chain would prepare different dispersion nanocomposites, this means during the nanocomposites preparation different molecular chains will result in different nanocomposites. Additionally preparation and discussion of polyethylene nanocomposites settled good base for further study on gas resistance of vinyl film.By using direction compounding, the partial-exfoliation EPDM /Organoclay nanocomposites were prepared, exfoliation EPDM/Organoclay nanocomposites were prepared by melt extrusion. Two EPDM/Organoclay nanocomposites had the special characterization respectively, and the mechanical properties of them were more higher than those of traditional HAF carbon black system. The increasing extent of mechanical properties in direction compounding nanocomposites is a little less than the extrusion nanocomposites, but the direction method had thesimple process and low cost, that is a new type of enforcement agent were found for EPDM rubber;comparatively the extrusion nanocomposites only with 3phr organoclay content, the mechanical properties will increase greatly, fully indicated the wonderful nano enforcement of nanocomposites. The mechanical properties increase of EPDM/Organoclay show that there are good application prospect of the product needing high strength and low hardness or high strength and high elongation.
