With the development of the light fiber communications, optical fiber connector is widely used in many fields. The connector has some characteristics such as high insertion loss and low return loss. Hence the research of ultraprecision machining is necessary needed. In recent years, ultrasonic, as a new means, has been applied in the field of industry manufacture, especial in precision machining and the process of some kind of material that are very difficult to machining. Process with ultrasonic has superiority over the common process and has a wide application. Until now, the plane grinding with ultrasonic is still limited in the level of dissociated grinding medium. Little attention has been paid to the plane contact grinding with ultrasonic. The present paper based on the compound grinding with ultrasonic, of optical fiber connector. It wants to resolve the problem of grinding of optical fiber connector. So the research has great valve in the filed of theory and reality.The paper starts with the today's development of the optical fiber connector and some key problems want to be resolved. Then make an analysis of mechanism of vibration grinding and grinding of brittleness material. The author introduced the concept that ultrasonic vibration has gyroscopic effect and applied it to the analysis of the effect of the ultrasonic machining. With the help of the experiments of ultrasonic grinding of the optical fiber connector, the author give his conclusion, that is, the ultrasonic vibration of ultrasonic grinding can improve the quality of metamorphic layer, reduce insertion loss and improve return loss of optical fiber connector. The insertion loss and return loss can be down to 0.05dB and up to 60dB.This paper also conclude when the press is 20g/mm~2 the power is 12W,and in proper grinding time, the grinding quality is the best.
