This paper investigated the influence of alkalinity on the UASB reactor stably work, which include: (1)For no-inherent alkalinity wastewater, alkalinity influenced to the reactor organic load rate, COD removed efficiency and sludge activity, inlet COD influenced to the system pH, furthermore, system stability. (2) When treating the middle-low alkalinity wastewater, alkalinity influenced to the granular development, the sludge load rate, the sludge particle size and settling rate in the course of UASB start-up;by the way the component of granular sludge as well as the structure which formed under different alkalinity was analyzed. (3) the common chemistry deposit and the crystallizing pHenomenon in the UASB project was also studied, the experiment in the project to slow down the calcium salt deposit and MgNH4PO3 crystallizing pHenomenon through changing system pH and that to prevent or alleviate the MgNH4PO3 crystallizing by reducing concerned ions concentration was conduct.Above research gave the following decision: Alkalinity has more tremendous influence to the UASB system. In the UASB start-up process, granular sludge development, the granular intensity and activity are lower in the low alkalinity system, for which affects the start-up speed of the reactor;In the UASB reactor, Alkalinity is a primary parameter to the system pH, in anaerobic treatment of the no-inherent alkalinity wastewater, Alkalinity affects the inlet COD and the organic load rate,In the high alkalinity system chemistry deposit and the MgNH4PO3 crystallizing can be prevented or treated by the proper way, the simplest one of which is to control system pH.
