No.2 mining area is the main orebody of Jinchuan copper-nickel deposit, in which there is about one-million ton of nickel in the lean ore, accounting for one quarter of total. The capacity of nickel production of the second stage project has reached 40 000 tons per year. In order to meet the continuous demand of domestic development for nickel, the preparatory work for "5511" Project to produce the nickel with annual capacity of 20,000 tons has been put forward, in which 20,000-ton nickel production shall be supplied by processing the poor ore in the said mining area;at the same time, in order to match the new process of flash smelting technology in the second stage, it is quite and production.In combination with former research results in benefitiation and characteristic of process mineralogy for the poor ore in the said area, this laboratory experiment focuses on the study of flowsheet structure of conventional flotation process, and some preliminary questions for application of new reagents have been conducted too. Results show that, on the basis of bulk flotation of copper-nickel sulfides in alkaline medium, by one-stage grinding and preliminary rougher, regrinding the roughing concentrate, and two-time cleaners, together with conventional reagents and combined use of reagents, following results in laboratory close circuit can be obtained: the grade of nickel, copper and magnesia in run of mine ore is 0.690%, 0.411% and 27.40% respectively;the grade of nickel, coppe and MgO in the concentrate is 7.240%, 4288% and MgO6. 970% respectively, corresponding the rate of recovery in the concentrate is 75.916% and 75.405%. At the same time, the valuable associated minerals (PGM) get recovered in the concentrate too.
