At present aimed at the condition that the 3 stage conventional treatment of oil field waste water, combining with technology of chemical oxidization ,not only the dosage of oxidizer is large , but also the cost is high, especially the removal of organic matter in waste water is often hard to reach ideal effect, this paper elicited the reason why the treating effect is not ideal by analysing the characteristic and composition of organic matter in oil field waste water and put forward a new idea that removal of organic matter in oil field waste water, namely developing a kind of organic agent, this organic agent can form comparatively strong " combination body " with matter in oil field waste water which is hard to be flocculated and oxidized. The "combination body" can form floccule with flocculants that has been added, so the above-mentioned organic matter is removed, declining the COD of oil field waste water.This paper choice petroleum asphalt which is a kind of lipophilic material to modify. Make it have certain hydrophilicity by modifying at the same time keeping certain lipophilicity. In modified process, the first, choose the best modified method of the asphalt and best modified condition of the method; secondly, grind the modified asphalt into small powder; at last, study the removal effect of modified asphalt to organic matter in oil field waste water and by SEM electrical mirror observe the condition that organic matter of oil field waste water distribute in dispersed part of modified asphalt. Then that is more further confirmed using modified asphalt to remove the organic matter in oil field waste water is effective.The experimental results of this paper indicated that the best modified condition of asphalt is: Under atmospheric environment, the mass ratio of iron chloride (FeCl3) / sodium sulfite (Na2SO3) / asphalt is 4:1:50, the oxidization temperature is 150℃, the oxidization time is 20min, the sulphonation temperature is 150℃, sulphonation time is 5min.Using modified petroleum asphalt and flocculant to treat oil field waste water, the dosage of modified asphalt only need 20mg/L, the CODcr of oil field waste water decline from 521.6mg/L(of which waste water is only treated by flocculant)to 79.6mg/L. Whereas the flocculated waster water is respectively oxidated by sodium hypochlorite and potassium congeal, in order that the CODcr of treated waste water reach the 2 level emission standards of GB8978-1996 (below 120mg/L), the dosage of NaClO need 7g/L, oxidization time is 30min, the dosage of KClO3 5g/L, oxidization...
