As the amount of Asphalt Emulsion usage increased dramatically, the economic efficiency and social efficiency is gradually becoming outstanding. Asphalt emulsion is well-known and accepted for energy saving, resource saving, environment protection and low pollution. Especially due to the national economy construction fast growing, poor quality of earlier constructed road, along with lack of maintenance, has cause the surface of the road damages over time. Asphalt Emulsion could be used to prevent the damage and make the loss minimized, which make asphalt emulsion application and research become a new hot spot.This topic analyze the asphalt emulsion manufacturing and stabilization mechanism theoretically based on the deeply discussion for emulsion mechanism through surface chemistry, colloidal chemistry, physical chemistry and etc. It supplies the theoretical evidence for the emulsifier option and high performance asphalt emulsion manufacturing.Firstly, make a comparison of emulsion effect between anionic emulsifier and cationic emulsifier for the asphalt. In the test, the asphalt emulsion made by cationic emulsifier 1636 and anionic emulsifier SDS respectively can be up to standard requirement for the asphalt emulsion various performance in the petrol chemistry industry, and 1631 best content is 0.6%, SDS is 0.7%. But the 1631 general emulsion effect is better than SDS.Secondly, based on the emulsifier modified principle and method, we modified nonionic emulsifier OP-10 and SDS. The best proportion for the emulsifier is 0.7%. Meanwhile, we analyzed the reasons why the asphalt emulsion performance is better, which make a foundation for the asphalt emulsion manufacture.At last, on the basis of above modified asphalt practice, we use PB latex and organobentonite compound together to make modified asphalt emulsion. As the modifier increasing, system viscosity keeping increasing, the reminder in the screen, storage stability and the other index are compliance to national standard. The ductility at 5℃of reminder after evaporation for modifier emulsified asphalt shows obviously rising tendency. The needle penetration reduction and softening point growth which all illustrate corresponding viscoelastic state area and yalidated usage area increased. We get the proportion through orthogonal test which is PB latex 2% and organobentonite 1%. Adding these two modifiers improve high and low temperature performance for the asphalt emulsion. The system focus on specialized physical modifications and at the same time, it companied with chemistry modifications. "asphalt modifier "cell generated by Graft copolymerization will reduce the surface tension and system Gibbs free energy, which make the modifier have better distribution and stabilization. PB emulsion flexibility and OMMT rigidity adjust the original asphalt colloform texture. It reduce the proportion of easy-flowed light weight substance in high temperature ambience relatively and improve the asphalt temperature susceptibility further, which represents ductility and softening point better, needle penetration reduction in asphalt emulsion evaporated residue. The modified asphalt emulsion not only meet highway surface construction technology criteria requirement, but also has good economy efficiency which has lower cost compared with traditional asphalt emulsion. It supplies theoretical support and technology guarantee for the asphalt emulsion applied in our country, and make our road maintenance technology more mature.
