In order to increase the selectivity of maleic anhydrideand the concentration of n-butane, a new reactor -- membranereactor was selected to study the oxidation of n-C40 to MA.The permeabilities of a based membrane and a self-made γ-Al2O3 membrane by six kinds of gases was studied in the pressure difference ranges of 0 3000Pa and the temperature ranges of 23100℃. Two membranes were characterized by methods such as XRD, SEM, BET and so on. A new method was proposed to measure pore diameter and porosity-tortuosity factor, and the pore diameters of two membranes (7.7319μm, 6.1976μm) and the porosity-tortuosity factors (0.07264, 0.06263) were measured and verified. The permeabilities of two membranes was simulated, and the mathematical simulating equations have been founded and verified.Through many experiments, porous-glass was selected as based membrane, and then four kinds of membrane reactors were made from it. The reactive properties ofthese membrane reactors and fixed bed reactor were studied and comparied in detail. The YSZ membrance reactor was founded to be the best one with highest selectivity and yeild. The influnce of temperature, GHSV, ratios of feed ect. in this reaction have been studied, too. The optimum operation condition was got: at atmopheric pressure, the temperature =440℃, GHSV=3814hr-1, O2/n-C40=3.76, n-C40%=5.96%. Under this condition, the conversion is 67.08%, selectivity MA is 81.20%, the yield of MA if 64.47%.
