Water super absorbing and retaining material is a new type of functional high polymer materials. Because of the ability to absorb water in high amounts and retain water under pressure, water super absorbents are extensively applied in many fields such as: agriculture and forestry, gardening, industry, textile, medicine, petrochemical engineering, building materials, environmental protection, food , consumer goods and so on. The more important role is played in lots of fields recently and a huge market potential is forecasted. Study on super absorbent polymer starts in 1980's in China. Compared with other developed countries, China lies in underway stage no matter in products development or in market application.Inorganic mineral powder-organic polymer compound water absorbing materials have a good development potential in water super absorbents. Based on bentonite(BT) as inorganic raw material and acrylamide(AM),acrIia acid(AA) as organic reaction monomer, BT/AA/AM three element copolymer compound material is prepared in aqua-solution method. On one hand simplified craft and addition of high-rate bentonite can reduce production costs effectively, make full use of inorganic mineral with low cost and enlarge its application fields ; on the other hand the addition of bentonite can improve comprehensive absorbing ability of compound absorbing material. Through the study of production performance, it can be found that water retaining capacity and gel-strength are improved obviously because of the addition of bentonite, salt-resistance is also betterment. Through the advanced research technique of IR SEM XRD AAS and bias-reflecting microscope forecasting and analysis , the result indicate that the product belong to inserted-layer status compound: inorganic phase and organic phase have a good consistency , polymer basal body disperse uniformly in the bentonite and form some effective bonding with it. In addition, this paper deals with the influence of technological conditions, especially the addition of bentonite. the result display that physico-chemical property, grain size and content of bentonite influence absorbing performance of compound material.Using bentonite which its montmorillonite content is about 90% as raw material, adopting adequate...
