The liquid phase method was used in this study to prepare highly dispersed sphere-like Bi2S3 nanocrystals with R-O-C=S(S)-Bi as the single-source precursor, which has a series of advantages, such as simple, fast and high purity of products. The morphology of the products could be controlled effectively by the solvothermal method if the proper solvents and reaction conditions were chose. Sb2S3 nanorods were successfully prepared at 180 °C for 3h with bismuth nitrate (Bi (NO3)3·5H2O) and thiourea ((NH2)2CS) as the raw materials, ethylene glycol as the solvent. Similarly, Sb2S3 nanorods were prepared with antiminy trichloride (SbCl3) instead of Bi (NO3)3·5H2O and other reaction conditions were unchanged. Many other methods such as microwave irradiation, solid state reaction, sonochemical method were also used to prepare Bi2S3 nanocrystals in this study. The products were characterized by IR, TG, XRD and TEM. The mechanism of formation of the products was discussed.
