Bi2S3 and Sb2S3 nanorods were firstly synthesized from the precursors M{S2COC4H9}3(C5H5N)2(M=Bi,Sb)and M{S2COC4H9}3(C12H8N2)(M=Bi,Sb)via hydrothermaltreatment at 180℃for 20 h. The products have been characterized by XRD, TEM, SEMand UV-vis spectra. The XRD patterns show that both of the products belong to theorthorhombic M2S3 phase and the products are highly pure. Transmission electronmicroscopic (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies reveal the rodlikeappearance of Bi2S3 with a diameter in the range of 30-50 nm and a length in the range of0.2—0.3μm. The Sb2S3 nanorods have been prepared using PVP as surfactant at 200℃for 20 h. TEM and SEM studies reveal the rodlike appearance of Sb2S3 with a diameter inthe range of 300-500 nm and a length over 10μm.Sb2Se3 nanocrystals were synthesized from SbCl3 and Na2SeSO3 via a hydrothermaltreatment at 180℃and pH=9-10 for 20 h. The XRD patterns show that the productbelongs to the orthorhombic Sb2Se3 phase and the product is phase pure. TEM and SEMstudies reveal the ribbonlike appearance of Sb2Se3 with breadth in the range of 200-300 nmand a length over 10μm.
