The starch-acrylic acid(AA)-acrylamide(AM) super absorbent resin was prepared from sweet potato starch as a raw material, acrylic acid and acrylamide as monomer, ammonium persulfate-sodium bisulfate as initiator, n,n-methylene-bisacrylamide as cross-linking agent by inverse suspension polymerization, and the best synthesize craft conditions were studied. Results show that when water/starch mass ratio 10:1, monomer/starch mass ratio 5:1, AA/AM mass ratio 3:2, percentage of initiator amount and cross-linking agent amount in monomer mass 0.7% and 0.07% respectively, the absorbing capacity of copolymer was 500g/g for ion water, 112g/g for 1%NaCl solution. The absorbent can be easily got in a short time without the protection of nitrogen. The copolymer had water retention ability and a satisfied stability. The copolymer was confirmed by means of Infrared spectroscopy, Microscope and X-ray diffractometer.
