Recently, octadecylamine was used as an corrosion inhibitor for lay-up protection of the thermal equipments more and more. Compared to the traditional protection process the process of lay-up protection have a lot of advantages including wide scope of protection, good effect of protection and simple operation. So this process was used in all kinds of repair of thermal equipment and long-term lay-up equipment. But there are many disadvantages of octadecylamine, such as short storage time,high cost and so on. We can improve the using effect of octadecylamine by making octadecylamine emulsion.The emulsification process of octadecylamine corrosion inhibitor was improved in this paper. Also, the emulsification process of octadecylamine inhibitor was studied. Two optimum reaction condition of emulsification processes were obtained through the primary experiment and orthogonal experiment. The quality percent of octadecylamine in the emulsion can be improved as high as 10%. The emulsification effect was different according to their dissimilar cosolvent and emulsion. The emulsion can be conserved for more than 40d, and the change of viscosity is very small. The potential new method is with little byproduct,little environmental pollution,easy purification.During experiment, reaction time,the emulsification effect of reaction temperature, quantity of emulsion and cosolvent were studied. In addition, the emulsion's performance of octadecylamine corrosion inhibitor was observed through stabilization, viscosity, appearance. The effect of corrosion inhibit was studied through rotary hanged weight losing method,scanning electron microscope and Spectrophotometry. The best experiment condition was found out finally according to the analysis of the experiment result.
