Current treatment process of wastewater containing nitrobenzene and its development are set forth briefly in this article. According to experiments, the optimal treatment process is proposed in which Hydrolysis Acidification by Anaerobic baffled reactor is combined to PACT aerobic biodegradation. In this article, the biodegradation of the manually simulated wastewater containing nitrobenzene is researched, taking CODCr, nitrobenzene, aniline, VFA, pH and the chromaticity as the main index for determining optimal processing parameters of the ABR-PACT process.ABR has the most important role in improving the biochemical treatability of the effluent. Its premium operation conditions are as follows: pH in the influent is 6.5~7.2, HRT is 12h; when the volume organic loading is controlled as 4.25 kgCOD/m3·d ,the rate of CODCr and nitrobenzene removal in the effluent are36% and 92.5% respectively; almost 90 percent of nitrobenzene are transformed into aniline, and the maximum concentration of VFA is 260.6mg/L; BOD5/CODCr changed from 0.28 to 0.42. It is indicated that the biochemical treatability is obviously improved, which accelerates the process of subsequent aerobic treatment.PACT reactor is the aerobic biological degradation process which is after the ABR hydrolysis-acidification. Its premium operation conditions are as follows: the pH in the influent is 7.0~7.5, HRT is 12h; the rate of CODCr and chromaticity removal in the effluent are 94.7% and 95.2% respectively; meanwhile, the aniline almost can't be detected. Through the contrast of experiment, the rate of CODCr removal in PACT has great advantage over common activated sludge process. The result is mainly ascribed to the combination of the adsorption of PAC and the biological degradation of activated sludge. It is proved by practice that the ABR-PACT process which is used to treat the wastewater containing nitrobenzene is reasonable and feasible, and it has abroad popularization of applicable value.
