With the accelerating of the industrialized of our country, the question of water pollution is absorbing more and more attention. If not being settled down well, the problem will, in the end, threaten the sustainable development of social economy of our county and become a restraining factor not only to the social development and the economic prosperity but also to the people's health and people's quality improve.In view of the existing fact that the discharge of industrial wastewater accounts for a considerable proportion of total sewage , and in the sewage monitoring system ,the monitoring point's characteristics that wide distribution, long distance, scatter and adverse environment, the paper presents a system of distance monitoring on sewage discharge based on GPRS network.Combining with the application and development of wireless communication technology, making use of GPRS network to transmitting the acquiring data on the spots, the system realize distance monitoring. The main virtues are as follows.1. favorable to the environmental protection department to strengthen monitoring and guarding against the discharge of sewage on the sly.2. Saving manpower, improving the work environment of measuring technician.3. Low cost. This can be manifested in the Low cost of investment in the construction all at once, low cost of equipments, low cost of running the system and low cost of maintenance.Based on the analyzing the transmission principles of GPRS network, the paper pay more attention to settle down the communication of the whole system and hardware design of the substructure. The system realizes data auto-acquisition in the end. The innovations of the paper are mainly reflected two aspects as follows.1. By substituting mobile phone communication module for GPRS module, the system breaks the traditional model of industrial data transmission. Through developing J2ME application programs on the platform of mobile phone communication module's OS and its protocols of network, the system realizes the mobile phone communication module's initiative response in the process of data transmission, decreases the amount of work of the substructure and can select module of substructure with lower data handling ability.2. In the process of the mobile phone communication module sending data to the monitoring center, the paper applies the Web Navigator (WinCC options) to issue the monitoring pictures onto the network. By writing the addresses of these pictures in the programs of the mobile phone communication module, in contrast with the traditional method, the system improves its speed and reliability of data transmission.The system can be used not only to the distance monitoring on sewage discharge but also to the situations that the object monitored has the characteristics of scatter, not easy to wiring and not high demand to the real time.
