Pilot Study Of Low Grade High Sulfur Bauxite Soda Ash Sintering

The bauxite resources in our country are abundant. It is mainly spread in the four provinces: Sanxi,Henan,Guizhou,Guangxi.Most of the bauxite(about 95%)is diaspore. The reserves of diaspore containing sulphur are about 150 million tons, compared with bauxite resources, which is about 57.2% . For diaspore containing sulphur , the high sulphur middle-low quality bauxite is 42.8%. the amount is large. Therefore, the meaning of the reseach that how to develop and make use of middle-low quality bauxite is very important.This paper studies the leaching characters of middle-low quality high sulphur bauxite(A/S is about 5). Firstly , in one-stage sintering ,we discusses the effects of alkali-ratio,sintering temperature,sintering time on the yield of Al₂O₃. Secondly , using sinter from one-stage sintering for the experiments of leaching and desulpfuration .Thirdly,using the high sulphur middle-low quality bauxite with different sulphur content for one-stage sintering experiment to study the effect of high sulphur middle-low quality bauxite on the yield of Al₂O₃. Finally, making use of Sodium aluminate solution from one-stage sintering for desulpfuration experiment to study the effects of barium-aluminate,temperature,time on the ratio of desulpfuration .The result shows that the optimum condition for one-stage sintering are that:alkali-ratio is 1.3,sintering temperature is 1100℃and sintering time is 30 minuters. Under the conditions , the yield of Al₂O₃ can reach 89. 78%. When one-stage leaching sinter , the siliceous modulus of solution of Sodium aluminate solution increases with the ascent of leaching temperature, when leaching temperature is 90*C, the siliceous modulus of solution of Sodium aluminate solution is over 400. For the high sulphur middle-low quality bauxite , the sulphur content in ore increases , the yield of Al₂O₃ decreases gradually. In the Sodium aluminate solution desulpfuration experiment, the optimum desulpfuration conditions are that:B=100%, T=75℃,τ=20min. Under the conditions the ratio of desulpfuration can reach 96.08%.
