In this study, the preparation of Pd/BC catalyst and its application in slash pine rosin was first investigated systemically with the bamboo charcoal as the support. The kinetics of disproportionation reaction of slash pine rosin was observed to determine the best preparation process of Pd/BC catalyst and the optimal reaction conditions of disproportionation reaction of slash pine rosin.The main results of this study are shown as follows.(1) The optimal Pd/BC catalyst was prepared through improving the loading process and modifying the bamboo charcoal. The Pd/BC catalyst has the superior activity when the oxidation loading process is employed and the bamboo charcoal is modified by oxidant.(2) The Pd/BC was characterized by measuring its surface area, and it was implied that disproportionation reaction of rosin might be carried out in the middle-pore and macro-pore of the support because of the big molecular of the reagent, so the catalytic activity will be improved in the existence of more middle-pore and macro-pore. From the SEM and XRD, it is found that the active catalyst can uniformly distribute on the support through oxidation loading process, beneficial to improve the catalytic activity.(3) The disproportionation reaction of slash pine rosin was investigated to make sure the optimal reaction conditions, catalyst amount is 0.4% (w/w material rosin), rotating speed 500r/min, reaction temperature 270℃and reaction time 2 hours.Chinese red pine rosin is proved to be easier to undergo disproportionation reaction than slash pine rosin. The produced disproportionated rosin can achieve the first class, and the catalyst amount used in this process is less than in the disproportionation reaction of slash pine rosin.(4) The kinetics of disproportionation reaction of slash pine rosin was investigated and a kinetic model was established. It can be represented by the equation ln Ca0 - lnCa=kt.It is proved that the disproportionation reaction of abietic acid is in accordance with first-order law between 250℃and 280℃, the reaction velocity constant versus temperature can be represented by the equation K=Aexp(-E/RT), where E=195.25KJ/mol, and the activity coefficient A=1.87×1017min-1.(5) Technology of modifying the bamboo charcoal, modified bamboo charcoal was used as a catalyst support, oxidation loading process with Pd/BC catalyst, preparation of Pd/BC-7 catalyst, as well as Pd/BC-7 catalyst was applied in the disproportionation reaction of Chinese red pine rosin and slash pine rosin, investigation in the kinetics of disproportionation reaction, etc., which are the creative researches in this paper.
