NC automatic programming system has played an important role in the integrated CAD/CAPP/CAM system. It forms a crucial link between products design and manufacturing. A reliable, open and intelligentized NC automatic programming systerm is one of the prerequisites of how to realize CAD/CAPP/CAM integration system. Aim at this problem, a feature recognition and feature extration for 2-D engineering drawing models is carried out to obtain maching informations, and a NC lathe automatic programming software system is developed, specific work embodies in:The development and main method of the feature recognition are analysed in this paper. And the recognition algorithms of all kinds of features are investigated. Furthermore, a feature model of revolving part is established by using feature recognition technology.Aider recognizing features, the process method of technological paremeters and the method of postprocess are presented. Finally, NC automatic programming system is realized based on the AutoCAD secondary development.In order to extend the system's function and improve the implementation efficiency, technological parameter databases and tool database are established. Founded on the invoking technology from VC program to ACCESS database, the parameters automatically inquiries and automatic tools management are achieved.The automatic programming system realized in this thesis adopts object-oriented programming methodology and Unified Modeling Language (UML) design concepts, and a UML design project under Visio environment is presented. Furthermore, a part of codes programmed with VC are listed.Using this NC automatic programming system, the feature recognition and technological process are carried out, and NC codes are automatic generated which are transformed to Washing 21DT CNC lathe to make a experiment. The test result shows that the various functions of this NC lathe automatic programming system meet the design requirements.
