In this thesis the shaping and safety performance of a thermobaric explosive which wasunder development were studied. The selections of binder and desensitizing agents weremainly analyzed. The thermobaric explosive which is similar to PBXs is the newgeneration of FAE. By analyzing the PBX theory, the F rubber, D ruber and H ruber werechosen as binders, and the calcium stearate, ceresin and graphite were chosen asdesensitizing agents. One kind of binders and two kinds of desensitizing agents wereselected to form a system for coating the thermobaric explosive. Then their shapingperformance and the mechanical sensitivity were compared. The analysis of themechanical sensitivity and the density indicated that the system which contained the Frubber, ceresin and graphite had a Very good effect on shaping performance and mechanicalsensitivity. Both the friction and impact sensitivity were 0. When the pressure reaches to900 kg/cm~2 the density ratio could achieve 99.2%. Regarding the thermobaric explosivefurther tests, the research showed that the compressive stress was 6.699MPa; The tensilestress was 0.716MPa; Heat sensitivity was 288℃(5s); The anti-overload capacity maywithstand 1.0×10~4g launch overloads and smaller than 2×10~5g the impact decelerationoverload; first decomposition temperature was 251.9℃,, highest exothermic peaktemperature was 286.9℃; In the compatibility, except the ceresin and Oxidant, the ceresinand the F rubber, the ceresin and Al compatible rank could reach to second level ofcompatibility, the others could reach to the first level of compatibility. The test resultshows that the design meets to the thermobaric explosive operation requirements. Therefore this formulation were chosen as an optimized thermobaric explosive formulationfor industrial production.
