The paper mainly refers to the thermal stabilities of three nitrates (n-propyl nitrate(NPN), isopropyl nitrate (IPN) and 2-ethylhexyl nitrate (EHN)) by using Infraredspectrum experiment, ARC and DSC.In the aspect of Infrared spectrum experiment test and analyze, three kinds of nitratesand deposited EHN are tested, then analyze every absorption frequency corresponding tothe bond, and the top temperature of every nitrate, and check the attribute vibrationfrequency. Two infrared spectrums of EHN and deposited EHN are nearly the same. Sogive the conclusion that the stabilization of a bit EHN is good under cool condition.In the aspect of DSC experiment test and analyze, the results of DSC differentpressure(0.1 MPa, 2 MPa, 6 MPa) experiment test are dealt by using the mechanismfunction, giving the activation energy, pre-exponential factor. The conclusion of thethermal stabilities compared: EHN is the poorest, the thermal stability of NPN isslightly better than that of IPN. and the thermal stability of NPN is the best.In the aspect of ARC experiment test and analyze, three nitrates are tested in theproper condition, then the results of ARC experiment test are dealt by using the rateconstant function, the mechanism function and exothermic function, and choose the bestfunction of dealt the results of ARC experiment test, and give the thermaldynamics-related parameters for the three substances, such as activation energy, reactionorder, mechanism function, and pre-exponential factor. The conclusion of the thermalstabilities compared: EHN is the poorest, the thermal stability of NPN is slightly betterthan that of IPN, and the thermal stability of NPN is the best.Because the parameters (start temperature and top temperature) that the experimentsgiving are different. The phenomenon of the inconformity is explained from thecharacters of the equipment.
