The trend of railway development is to improve loading and speed nowadays. A lot of continuous railways is needed. The normalizing is one of the most important working procedures in the building and maintaining of rails. At present, the quality of normalizing is unstable because the facility of flame normalizing was weak in automatic, normalizing was operated by manual. It is necessary to research and develop new type of control-technique and equipment in normalizing to improve the quality and efficiency of continuous railway.After analyzing the domestic and overseas technology of the flame normalizing in gas pressure weld, the great fluctuant in quality of normalizing research has been done. The normalizing temperature field of welded rails was simulated by ANSYS. The core of control was PLC, driving machine designed was gear-and-rack, circuit and program for checking and compare in range of swing was also designed. It achieved the control of range and frequency of normalizing. The precision control of the match and flux of oxy-acetylene was carried out using Mass Flux Control. A new numerical control equipment of normalizing which applied in continuous railway has been successfully developed.The result indicated that the temperature difference between actual measurement and simulation by ANSYS was from 60°C to 100°C, the range of swing could be adjusted from 20mm to 80mm, the frequency of reversing gear was from 1/s to 2/s.Digital normalizing was superior than manual normalizing in the capacity of drop hammer and static bending.The processing parameter of machine could be initialized. It enhanced the efficiency of successful normalizing, operated conveniently, stably and reliably, improved work conditions, reduced workload and insured the quality of normalizing.
