As in recent years, some countries have asked to mark and reduce the harmful material that listed in Hoffmann name list, low tar does not equate in low harm, world "Framework Convention on Tobacco Control" has been signed , the domestic tobacco industry is faced with more and more pressure, therefore special cigarette filter such as active carbon-cellulose acetate will play a great role in the reduction of tar and other harmful components in cigarette smoke.This paper established a fast and convenient method to directly analyze active carbon and molecular sieve etc. adsorption material's adsorbability by ATD-GC/MS. By ATD-GC/MS, 62 kinds of volatile organic compounds were identified in active carbon in acitive carbon-cellulose acetate multifilter after smoking. The main components of the volatile compounds were 21 aromatic compounds, 2 kinds of organic acids that promote cancer and some flavor monomer in which quite amounts is irritating for human body. 28 kinds of volatile organic compounds were desorbed from cellulose acetate, including 2 kinds of aromatic compounds and some flavor monomer and a little stimulating components such as nicotine. Through half quantitative analysis, the amount of the 5 kinds of typical materials (benzene, toluene, pyridine, phenol and acetone) in active carbon of every smoked active carbon-cellulose acetate multifilter is 16.73μg,73.26μg,13.53μg,68.78μg and 43.22μg. The amount of toluene, pyridine, phenol and actone adsorbed by cellulose acetate in every active carbon-cellulose acetate multifilter is 8.06μg,9.26μg,129.70μg and 63.65μg. Active carbon adsorbs more 34 kinds of material than cellulose acetate, and the amount of these materials also oversteps a lot.The change of the composition adsorbed by active carbon multifilter with the increasing aging time is also studied. The study result showed that with the increasing aging time the quantity of adsorbed compounds tend to decrease, and among the desorbed compounds the relative content ratio of plasticizer to other compounds increases gradually. 3 months later, the ratio tends to steady gradually.Through the research of cut tobacco and cigarette paper, 12 of the 21 kinds aromatic compounds adsorbed by active carbon multifilter were found in the composition of thermodesorption and pyrolysis research. In tobacco cut and cigarette paper, 3 kinds of stimulate compounds, 6 kinds of flavor monument and 1 kind of organic acid that promote cancer were discovered .To use what kind of nature active carbon in production is also studied. The result showed that it is suitable to use 60M or higher M active carbon, in which water content with 20% and iodine number with 900-1000 mg/g is better.The adsorbability of molecular sieve-cellulose acetate multifilter in development was also studied. But the result showed that its adsorbability is not as good as active carbon multifiter and cellulose actate filter.
