An increasing trend to develop highly efficient, less toxic with low residual level green pesticide has been noticed. Therefore the pesticides from natural products are gaining considerable importance in research. Using the fatty acid ester, salt and other ramification originating from plant oil and animal fat as pesticide or adjuvant has been attracted great attention. The paper describes the transesterification reaction of oil and fat with alcohol to make fatty acid ester in presence of a solid base catalyst. The paper was focused on the solid base preparation and optimization of the technique.The solid base catalyst has many advantages over homogeneous base, for example, reusability, no wastewater, easy aftertreatment and so on. Despite of its short history, it develops rapidly and has set off upsurge in solid base study. Our attention was concentrated on metallic oxide solid base and composite solid base. We had selected a kind of high performance catalyst, the KNO3/γ-Al2O3 solid base which was found through many experiments. And the ester content in the products being 88.97%.
