The slope stability has been an important study object of geotechnical engineering all the time, and it relates to artificial and natural fields such as mining engineering, civil engineering, railway and highway engineering, hydrological and hydroelectric engineering, waste residue and garbage management engineering, hillside riverside, etc. With the fast development of domestic economy, the construction is on the increase. The slope disaster will be more and more serious, the involved slopes extend from simple soil slope to complex high rock slope, so the research of rock slope stability will be more and more significative. This paper studied the slope of Yongping open-pit, following the research route as field investigation-laboratory test-establishment of calculation model-stability analysis of rock slope. In order to evaluate the stability of the slope, rock mechanics parameters derived from laboratory test firstly were optimized by empirical formula. The design sofeware 3.0 of slope stability was adopted in this paper, which was researched by Beijing Lizhen software graduate institute. 26 sections of 4 calculational regions were analyzed by slice method searching the most dangerous slip surface in Yongping open-pit extended areas. Three construction statuses were considered, such as gravitation effect, gravitation and ground water effect, gravitation, ground water and earthquake simultaneity effect. At first, equivalent rock strength was utilized, Secondly, the actual distribution of rock layer and the relevant rock strength were simulated, and then the least safty factor of slope could be obtained. The calculation results indicated: the stability of slopes was better in calculational regionⅠandⅡ, whenas, it was worse in calculational regionⅢandⅣ, at the same time, the infections of ground water and earthquake to the stability of slope were bigger.
