Some problems such as the water-eroded cave and the gob with water usually occur during the deep mining and construction of deep-buried long tunnel. The underground space with water makes against the safety of tunneling. It is very important to study the simulation and control of damage resulted from the underground space with water for the tunneling. It is useful for preventing the water bursting and making the people and property safe.Based on the rules of groundwater movement, the hydraulics theory and the seepage principles of fractured rock masses, associated with the geological conditions of the Changba Lead-zinc Mine, the stability of the gob was analyzed, and the damages resulted from the underground space with water for the excavating tunneling were simulated using FLAC3D software. The safety distance between the rock face and the underground space with water during the tunnel construction was studied, and some methods and measurements for preventing the water bursting were discussed. The main contents and conclusions are as follows:Firstly, the law which the groundwater affects the rock was discovered by analyzing the ramollescence of rock. The four types of mathematical models for analyzing the coupled hydro-mechanical properties of fractured rock masses were discussed and their relative merits were pointed out.Secondly, the mechanical analysis models of tunnel excavation close to the underground spaces (e.g. gob) were established according to the geological conditions of the Changba Lead-zinc Mine. The stability analysis of gob was carried out, and the changes of mechanics properties of the wall rock closed to gob were discovered. The impact of gob was studied during the tunnel excavation, and the change of the stress, strain and displacement of the wall rock around gobs was discovered.Thirdly, the study of the stability analysis of gob and tunnel was carried out under condition of gob with water, and interaction mechanism of gob and tunnel excavation was discovered. The change of the stress, strain and displacement of the wall rock around gobs was discovered under condition of gob with water.Fourthly, the changes of the plastic region and stress field were analyzed, the thickness of waterproof layer was estimated, and some methods and measurements for preventing the water bursting were put forward by comparative study of the stress, strain, displacement around the gob without water and the gob with water.
