The application of splashing technology has largely lengthened the life of the converter. Improving splashing technology is a systems engineering. In general, it have two key factors: making the coating even and having a definite thickness and prolonging its life. The two factors are related to adjust technology of slag capability. Fractional melted coating can protect the lining, so the coating,s capability to resist the erosion of the slag has directly related to its fractional melting character. To improving coating,s life by using fractional melting character, we can think fractional melting character as a guideline of appraising the coating,s life and put forward slag adjustment ideology based on studying on fractional melting character.In order to acquire the end slag content for the splashing ,in this paper,the connection the fraction melting character and the end slag content has been studied experimentally and analyzed theoretically; To acquire reasonable craftwork system of the splashing ,the connection the fraction melting character and the velocity of the rising temperature in BOF has been studied experimentally .According to the results of study, TFe and MgO have most remarkable influence on the coating,s fractional melting character. The higher the TFe content is ,The larger the coating,s melting capacity distinction with before fractional melting is; the higher the MgO content is, the higher the coating,s initial fractional melting temperature is and the slower fractional melting velocity; when MgO content is less12 percent ,fractional melting phenomenon is obvious and the melting temperature after fractional melting is higher the initial melting temperature. The basicity of slag has a small influence on the initial melting temperature and melting temperature after fractional melting.The slower rising velocity of temperature, the more fractional melting quantity is and the higher melting temperature after fractional melting is, so it is in favor of improving the life of the coating. When the velocity of the rising temperature is quicker, the initial fractional melting temperature and melting temperature after fractional melting are all lower, melting temperature after fractional melting is obviously improved and the quantity of fractional melting is small, but the velocity of fractional melting is quicker; so that the velocity of the rising temperature is quicker is not good for the slag splashing.It is remarkable that if the coating fractional melted well, the TFe and MgO content is almost same in coating nevertheless of the content of the final slag and the TFe and the MgO content in coating after fractional melting. This means that the final slag content will be wider than before and the final slag adjustment will breakthrough tradition of the low MgO and high FeO content.The coating,s fractional melting phenomenon and change of compose and structure shows it is not comprehensive to adjust the life of the coating by melting temperature of slag, the physical and chemical capacity change because of fractional melting should be considered. That fractional melting is well used will solve the contradiction between the viscosity requirements for the slag coating caused by the fractional melting phenomenon. It make the slag suitable for splashing and having the excellent protection effect for the lining simultaneously.
