China has a long history of 5000 years for civilization. How we can have a foothold in the designing field globally has been obsessing Chinese designers for a long time.When we look around, we learn that the new abundant media has already been rooted in people's everyday life, which transformed our physical living space into a digital world. All information is transferred by digital way. The method of transmission forms the way to receive information. That is to say, those new media are gradually imperceptibly influenceing on our pattern and habit of receiving information. Marshall McLuhan, the representative of medium analysis research, believes that the terminal effect of broadcasting media lies in that the media influences the habit of our thought and understanding. Books, as a transmission medium among human world, under the influence of the emerging medium, What development mode they will make? How reading pattern will develop? From what point of view China's designers will welcome the challenge?Through the analysis on the multiple design situation of books, we understand clearly about the current booksituation; further through the analysis on the currentreading pattern and behavior, the author raises a concept about a books design.
