This article proposes a chemically activated method to utilize the sewage sludge to make up activated carbon. The optimal operating conditions were determined through experiments. The kinds of activation agent, the activation temperature, the activation time, the activation conditions and the ratio of liquid and solid were chosen as impact factors. SEM photography, BET surface area, FT-IR and X-ray were used to evaluate the performance of sludge activated carbon. This article also studied the effect of using sludge activated carbon as wastewater adsorbent.The test results indicated that the optimal conditions were 40% ZnCl2 solution -immersed sludge pyrolyzed at 600℃for 20 minutes in a ration 1:2-1:3. The maximal iodine of sludge activated carbon was 643-842mg/g, the specific volume was 0.45-0.51ml/g and BET surface area was 636-832m2/g, and it meets the requirements of commercial products.The researches of sludge adsorbance thermodynamics were carried. When sludge activated carbon was used as an adsorbent for disposal of wastewater, the removal efficiency of COD was more than 87%, the removal efficiency of color was more than 80% and the removal efficiency of TOC was53.3%-63.5%.The sludge activated carbon can be used as absorbent to remove the pollutant in water, and meet the requirement of market activated carbon.
