3-(Dibutylamino) phenol, as an important chemical material, was widely applied to medicine, pesticide and dyestuff. In this research, 3-Aminophenol was used as raw material, n-Butyl bromide as Haloalkanes agent, and MgO as deacidification agent. In the end, 3-(Dibutylamino) phenol was successfully synthesized by the Nucleophilic substitution reactions. Two different experiment methods were discussed under the same conditions. The yield of 3-(Dibutylamino) phenol was above 96%.The products were determined by the ways of analysis such as~1H-NMR,GC-MS,IR,EA and HPLC. The effect of the ratio of raw materials, solvents, reaction time and temperature etc. on this reaction was also discussed. Finally, the optimum reaction conditions were obtained by experiments, which were n (3-Aminophenol): n (n-Butyl bromide): n (MgO) = 1.0: 4.0: 1.09, temperature 80~90°C, reaction time 9h, and solvent water 15 ml.The recovery of n-Butyl bromide and solvent were researched through experiments. The interface tension of 3-(Dibutylamino) phenol hydrobromide salt was studied. The experimental results showed that it have a certain extent the surface activity in water.
