Hypericin is a dianthraquinone constituent of plants of the Hypericum genus. The molecule can also be synthesized by the condensation of two derivatives of anthraquinone. The interest in the hypericin is a result of the discovery of its pharmaceutical potential.Such as, its antiviral agent, especially anti-HIV(the human immunodeficiency virus), which is of relevance for the treatment of patients suffering from AIDS, and it controls the action of FMDV, treatment on leucocythemia, improving the quality of blood produces, and its killing the virus of bird flu; its antidepressant agent and antitumor activity. Besides, hypericin has long been used in traditional medicine, for example, in the treatment of wound healing, diarrhea, tummy bug, toothache. In this dissertation, the total synthesis ways of hypericin were studied, summarized and designed. Comprehensive extraction of emodin from polygonum cuspidatum was studied. Then emodin was converted directly to emodin anthrone, the latter can be converted to hypericin under the condition of light. The influence factors of processes were discussed and the optimum reaction conditions were obtained by experiments.IR, 1H NMR, MS technics were used to characterize the products. The results proved that the structures and performance indexes of the products conformed to the design requirement.
