With the development of mining technologies and the steady improvement of productivity level, they provide technique possibilities for the recycle of underground resources to the utmost extent. Simultaneously, higher requirements are put forward to the safety problem in the production, and the stability problem of surrounding rock mass is becoming more and more prominent. For open stope mining method, smaller ore pillars and larger ore rooms can guarantee the highly efficient recovery of ores from the aspect of production, while larger ore pillars and smaller ore rooms are effective ways to guarantee the structural stability from the aspect of safety. Therefore, the efficient ore stoping and the stope structural stability during the mining will become a pair of contradictions.This essay converts ore mechanics parameters, in view of geological conditions (including geological structure, the fault, the joint and so on), hydro-geology, engineering geology, and ore body characteristics of the south ore deposit of Wadizhou in Dayao Copper Mine. It builds finite element numerical models using the finite element numerical simulation software "ansys" , based on actual conditions of the mine, the failure criteria of the ore body's mechanics and the stope instability mechanism. It simulates the stope stability under different combination of ore rooms and ore pillars. After the determination of stope structural parameters, it simulates the stress and displacement distributing characteristics under different mining sequences by using the finite element numerical simulation software "ansys" again. Its main content is as follows:(1) It refers to a great deal of domestic and international materials. It comprehends the current situation of the optimum study on stope structural parameters both at home and abroad.(2) It collects, investigates and studies geological conditions (including geological structure, the fault, the joint and so on ), hydro-geology, engineering geology, and ore body characteristics and the ore mechanics parameters of the south ore deposit of Wadizhou in Dayao Copper Mine on the field.(3) It studies and analyzes mechanics features of the ore body, the stope instability mechanism and constitutive relationship of soils and rocks. It estimates rock mechanics parameters by the usage of RQR (rock classification method) rock engineering quality grade method and Hoek-Brown formula.(4) It builds the numerical models of representative ore sections between 240#~250# section planes of I -10 ore body. It carries out the finite element numerical simulation to 6 different stope structure schemes. It obtains the stress and displacement distributing conditions of the ore body under different stope structural parameters. Consequently, it determines the reasonable stope structural parameters, with 40m width of the ore room and 8m width of the ore pillar.(5) It carries out the finite element numerical simulation to 3 different mining sequences by using the software ansys again, based on the determination of stope structural parameters. It obtains the stress and displacement distributing state of the ore body under different mining sequences. Consequently, it determines the best mining sequence, that is, the stoping from one end to the other end of the ore body.
