This paper analyses the research status of evaluation method of surface water quality and water quality prediction model comprehensively.Through case studies, summarizing and comparing the traditional and latest water quality evaluation methods, also analyzing the adaptation of SWMS model to the solute transport in the simulated uniform flow field.Beginning with the routine monitoring data from main cut-section of Taihu lake basin,evaluating the cut-sections water quality with Single-factor Index method, Nemerow Index,Comprehensive Water Quality Index,Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation Method,Gray Correlation Analysis and BP-ANN.The result shows that the method of Comprehensive Water Quality Index has the highest coincidence with other methods and has only one level deviation in only one monitoring cut-section comparing with the average of the six methods.Supported by the "Survey of Dongying Geothermal Resource Development and Environmental Impact",taking a point source of pollution of geothermal tail water of Guangli river as an example,using SWMS model to deal the changes of temperature, chloridion and high total salinity with dynamic simulation and quantitative analysis.With the parameters fixed,SWMS model can reflect the solute transport process of geothermal tail water discharged into the rivers.To some degree,it can be used to simulate the solute transport process in uniform flow field.However,SWMS model can be further optimized because it only considers the attenuation of contaminants from the angle of physical spread,without considering the biodegradation and chemical conversion.
