In this article, two kinds of tartaric acid derivatives rare earth complexs were synthesized: bis-β-diketone and carboxylic acid species. Structure characterizations and properties determination were made, the detailed research work is as follows:1. Dibenzoyl tartaric acid triethylammoium reacted with lanthanide chloride to obtain ten complexs [Ln(DBTA)2(Et3NH)·2H2O·2CH3OH]n [Ln = La (1), Pr (2), Nd (3), Sm (4), Eu (5), Gd (6), Tb (7), Dy (8), Er (9), Lu (10)]. Single crystals were obtained by solution diffusion for 1-10. X-Ray crystal diffraction and powder diffraction showed that the structures were all carboxylato-bridged infinite 1D chain, each ligand bridges two Gd(III) through terminal carboxyl groups, each Gd(III) ion, showing a 8-coordinated square antiprism, is ligated by four oxygen atoms from different ligand, two methanol oxygen atoms and two oxygen atoms from water molecules. channels were formed by chains throughπ-πinteraction of phenyl rings, free water molecules and triethylammonium cations occupied the channels. All complexs were characterized by IR, UV, Elemental analysis and TG-DTA. Fluorescence determination showed lanthanide ion emission for 5, 7 and 8.2. Tartaric bis-β-diketone(TBDK) ligand reacted with lanthanide chloride to obtain ten complexs Ln2(TBDK)3·4Solvent [Ln = La (11), Pr (12), Nd (13), Sm (14), Eu (15), Gd (16), Tb (17), Dy (18), Er (19), Lu (20)]. The structure of complexs was speculated through IR, UV, Elemental analysis, TG-DTA and references. TG-DTA analysis revealed that complexs were decomposed above 190 oC and had good thermal stability. Characteristic fluorescent spectra of centre metal ion can be seen from luminescent determinations of 14, 15 and 17, the color was pink for 14, red for 15 and green for 17. The red color for 15 was especially strong.
