Different direct current of 2~100 mA was provided for Bacillus subtilis 63501, Bacillus cereus and E. coli DH5ɑrespectively in liquid substrate during the bacteria's continuous culture. The growth curves and protein concentration in the cells were measured to indicate the bacteria's growth level, and the pH curves, the ATP enzyme activity were measured to indicate the metabolic level, and the TEM micrograph of the bacteria was observed as well. The results indicated that:(1) suitable direct currents can accelerate the multiplication of the bacteria, increase the concentration of protein in the bacteria and promote the ATP enzyme activity, as a result improved the growth and metabolism level;(2) suitable dc currents can change the micrograph of bacteria cells, increase the penetration activity, under the condition of not hurting the cells.(3) the electrochemical reaction product of H2 and O2 and activated H can activate the activity of cells growth and enzyme.(4) The third generation of E. coli DH5αelectrolyzed by dc currents has showed higher growth and metabolic activity than the first generation of DH5α. The ATPase activity in their culture has been strengthened. And the action of electricity to the fourth generation of DH5αhas been stable, and the promote effect of dc electric current has been accumulated.
