The advantages of Vibratory stress relief (VSR) technology attract people to favor more and more. At present, the VSR technology is widely used in the field of ferrous metal, however, research reports in the field of non-ferrous metals are rarely seen. With the development of non-ferrous metals, especially aluminum which is applied in projects in a wide range, research in this area attracted more and more attention. This paper started the analysis from the mechanism of VSR, and focused on the study of VSR's technics and effect of aluminum alloy thick-plates, and then had a discussion about VSR's influence on workpiece properties. Finally, it used experiments of different Aluminum alloy thick-plates to verify.1. Analysis of VSR's mechanismThe process of elimination and homogenization of residual stress is the essence of study on VSR's mechanism. Therefore, this paper carried out a comprehensive study on the residual stress firstly, and used the theory of stress and strain characteristics of metallic materials under cyclic loading to explain VSR's mechanism at the macro level, and then had an in-depth study on VSR's micro mechanism using micro-mechanical method. Lastly, the VSR's mechanism was set forth.2. Study on VSR's technicsThe three key parameters of VSR: force, force frequency, force time. The last comprehensive reflection on its is dynamic stress. This paper discussed the selection methods of three key parameters firstly, and took into account the influence factors and distribution situation of dynamic stress and raised the principle of choosing the magnitude of dynamic stress according to much information and phenomena. Finally, the workpiece support, equipment installation and judgment of VSR's effect were studied.3. Study on VSR's influence on workpiece propertiesThis paper had the study on VSR's influence on workpiece properties, such as residual stress, deformation resistance, dimensional stability, mechanical properties and fatigue performance in theory, and had a test study on stability of dimensional accuracy of aluminum alloy thick-plates.4. Experimental study on different specifications of aluminum alloy thick-plates.This paper had the study respectively on different sizes of aluminum alloy thick-plate, it revealed the VSR's technics.Finally, this study had a sum-up and an outlook.
