The research object of this paper is the thickness measurement system using X-ray during the manufacture process of industrial metallic plate. The thickness measurement system is mainly made up of three parts: the high voltage direct current power supply for X-ray tube,thickness measurement signal detector equipment and the data communication system between PC and microprocessors based on RS-485 bus.The main contents of this paper are as follows:1 . In the foundation of analyzing metallic plate thickness measurement system both home and abroad, this paper provides a method of detecting and processing of the thickness signal, the data montitoring communication system between PC and microprocessors is developed basing on RS-485 bus .2. Detecting device and processing mechanism of the X-ray signal was analysised. calibration principle,curve fitting and compensation mechanism during practical application are mainly researched.3. The data communication system between PC and microprocessors is developed basing on RS-485 bus. The communication system adopts the master-slave control structure as its access control. Communication agreement,hardware circuit and software programs are properly designed to realize its faction. Anti-interference measure of communication is also analyzed at the end.4,The monitoring and management software was developed with Delphi。The main contents of the monitoring software include main control interface, interface of system parameter configuration, analysis interface etc.The result of simulation and experiment shows that the detect system for metallic plate thickness measurement using X-ray has its many advantages such as real-time,reliability and practicability. It has great active economy benefit such as lowering waster,meliorating manufacture and improving production efficiency etc.
