The oil film thickness is one of parameters of the amount of oil spill calculated. The effective scheme can be chosen to deal with oil spill including dispersant application and in situ burning, and the measurement of the thickness of oil film on water should provide significant advances to the fundamental understanding of the dynamics of oil slick spreading, means much for weather, climate and the marine environment protection.Based on the DSP data acquisition and processing system for oil film thickness measurement in sea we developed in our laboratory, the DSP+FPGA-based data acquisition and processing system is developed to improve the problems of spot image distortion causing by measured object thickness changing and the DSP data overload. The work has been done in this paper as follows:1. The data acquisition system is realized with a TMS320C5502 DSP chip as the core and an EP2C5T144 FPGA chip as the pre-processing circuit.2. The algorithm contained the thresholding, the mean filter and the centroid is developed and realized in the DSP system.3. With the debugging of the sensor, the experiments of measuring the standard block gauge thickness are hold both in laboratory conditions and in off-line conditions. By analyzing the experimental results, the system is proved to be feasible.
