The production process of alumina chemicals is complicated since there are many control parameters in the drying system, and the simple closed-loop is not stable. It is difficult to meet the production requirements and it is also difficult to achieve automatic control. To address these challenges, this project focuses on system optimal design according to our developed mathematical model with the tool of MATLAB. It includes: determining the relevant parameters, adopting cascade control and optimizing the control targets. These steps help to address the inadequate control problem and also lay foundation for management network upgrades.The DCS system has been developed for more than 30 years, and it has been used in the production process of alumina chemicals for 10 years in our company. The processes have been developed to 10 sets from one. The product grade was elevated to MACSV from MACSII of Hollysys in the beginning. Some of the processes use FCS. The vendors of DCS system includes Hollysys, Supcon of Zhejiang University, and Siemens. The successful operation of the DCS system has made a major contribution to our company's development, because it not only improved the company's automation level, but also helped speed up the enterprise informatization. However, the DCS system should not limit its application on factory (shop) level, its powerful functions can also play a major role in enterprise management by connecting to the management network based on precise control, thus to create greater value for a company. These factors hindered the upgrade of the DCS system to management network. One the other hand, the DCS system in each production process of our company came from different vendors, and the software from the same vendor may even have different versions. These difficulties further complicated the upgrade of DCS to management network.Second, we use the HiRIS7.0 system developed by Hollysys. This system can collect, store, process, transfer and utilize the large amount real-time data generated by other systems like DCS, PLC and SCADA etc. in the production process. It provides the enterprise reliable information for production management. In the meantime, the HiRIS7.0 system can connect to ERP, MRP, and SCM etc. upper level management system seamlessly, and it provides these system comprehensive production information based on real-time data. Besides its capability of transferring real-time data to upper level, the greater value of the HiRIS7.0 system is to provide enterprises with a set of comprehensive, practical production and management tools to achieve a real sense of "integrated management and control".
